Five reasons to choose vinyl flooring

The design options have changed and been expanded, but vinyl is still affordable, durable and easy to maintain.

Grande Floor Covering has a combined staff experience of 50 years. Owner John Grande has been in the flooring industry for over 20 years and is a certified installer.

As a flooring retailer, we carry a full inventory which includes everything from hardwood to vinyl. We think you’ll be nicely surprised at the offerings.

We know how various furnishings effect flooring, so we provide complementary products, such as cabinets and countertops.

Our showroom is in Voorhees, NJ and we service Voorhees, Cherry Hill, Marlton, Berlin, Berlin Township. Come in to learn more about our products, services, and our free in-home estimates.

Are you talking about luxury vinyl (LVF)?

No, LVF is somewhat thicker, more rigid and waterproof. Vinyl (also referred to as "resilient" because of its flexibility and bounce-back capabilities) is highly water-resistant, but not waterproof.

If installed well, however, it is almost impervious to water.

Benefit from quality vinyl flooring

  • Vinyl has a cushioned step, softer feel and is water-resistant
  • Sheet vinyl - Comes in a 12-feet wide 1 piece sheet
  • Plank - Individual vinyl plank, more durable than laminate and hardwood

What about style?

Technology has certainly changed things. When it was first introduced in the 1950s, every retailer praised this flooring for its function. Vinyl was durable, had a strong resistance to water and was very easy to clean. It was also affordable, to which the DIY-friendly installation only added.

The images, though, were flat and somewhat dull. Now we have 3-D printing that shows vibrant colors and lively designs. Embossing adds texturing appearances, giving even more depth and dimension.

When you walk into a flooring store you will be overwhelmed at the vinyl design options.

Other benefits include:

  • Comfort. It’s soft, flexible and won’t get cold. That makes it a terrific option for those rooms, like the kitchen, where you might have to stand for long periods.

  • Kid and pet-friendly. Because it’s so durable, it’s recommended for households where there can be a lot of foot traffic.

  • Stain resistance. This is a layered product. On top clear wear layer that acts as a surface barrier, protecting the floor from stains and scratches.

  • Easy care. Just sweep regularly with a soft broom. For more thorough cleaning mop with a manufacturer-approved cleaner. Note: Avoid waxes and those shine-promoting cleaners.

  • Simple installation. With a few exceptions, it can be placed over existing flooring. The method is usually glue-down, but if you opt for tiles, the pieces also click together.
